The Topsfied Fair is the longest-running agricultural fair in this country. It happens every October on its own fairgrounds in Topsfield, Massachusetts. A 5 minute drive from my house, which is fortunate since it's one of the reasons Autumn is my favourite season. It runs for 10 days, always ending on Columbus Day. Last year I wasn't able to go due to working late hours, but this year I made sure I went at least once.
Right after arriving, Keith, Erin and I decided to eat. We all went for the bread bowls with soup, while Gordon ended up with bad chicken fingers and fries. We sat outside under an umbrella like the one behind Erin. It was cold. Real cold.
This isn't a great photo, but you can see one of the baby sheep standing on top of one of the adults. This went on for several moments in a circus sort of way.
This was the first time I'd seen a llama live. They were kinda freaky... they sat perfectly still. If one of them hadn't blinked, I would have sworn they weren't real.
Anybody who knows me knows that I love cows. The biggest reason for my going to this fair (aside from the Tempura, fried dough, German fries and caramel apples) is to see the cows. It's the only real chance I get to be close enough to touch them. I love petting them... one of the cows even mooed at Erin and I when we petted it. It was most exellent.
Is it me, or does this cow appear to be smiling?
This cow looks like she's kissing the calf on the head...
I made Keith stand in front of this solely for the purpose of proving we were there. I should send this to Jay Leno...
